Peggie D. Milam

Mrs. Peggie D. Milam, age 81, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010, at a local hospital.

 

Born November 16, 1928 in Carlyss, she was resident of Lake Charles and a homemaker. A longtime member of University Methodist Church, she was in the Eastern Star Love Chapter 209 and a past mother advisor of the Rainbow Girls of Sulphur. A proud graduate of Sulphur High School, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, flowers. She will also forever be remembered for her beautiful needlework. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Milam will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceding her in death was her husband, Jim R. Milam.

 

Survivors include her three children, Rosamond Blanchard and husband, Bobbie of Lacassine, Jim Milam and wife, Dorothy of Shreveport, and Mike Milam of Lake Charles; one brother, Gordon Drost and wife, Carol of Tulsa, OK; six grandchildren, Rebecca Slone of Lake Charles, Peggie Dando of Lake Charles, Michelle Chamberlain of Irving, TX, Stephen Milam and wife, Julie of Fate, TX, Melissa Kaiser and husband, Boyd of Vestavia Hills, AL, and Britney Melton and husband, Josh of Lake Chalres; and eight great-grandchildren, Danielle and Shelby Slone, Josh, Kate, and Chase Kaiser, Lauren Chamberlain, Anders Milam, and Jayce Lejeune.

 

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, July 22, 2010. Rev. Charlie Langford will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 21, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Thursday, July 22, from 8 a.m. until time of service.
