Peggy Jean Vaughn

Peggy Jean Vaughn, 76, of St. Bernard, LA died on Sunday, February 15, 2015 in a Lake Charles hospital. Mrs. Vaughn was born on August 28, 1938 in Tupelo, AR. She will be remembered as a one of a kind loving and sweet lady who never met a stranger. Mrs. Vaughn was a faithful Christian and was a devoted member of Delacroix Hope Baptist Church in St. Bernard, LA. Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Lonnie Dean Vaughn and wife Amanda of Lake Charles; two sisters, Patsy Ann Salyer of Kentucky and Anita Whittaker of Michigan; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Burlon Davis Vaughn. She has also gone to meet her very close sister in Heaven, Shirley Ann Smith. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Delacroix Hope Baptist Church in St. Bernard, LA. The Rev. James Melerine will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the church on Friday from 2:00 PM until the start of the service.
