Peggy Lee Muckelrath Whitley went home to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of 83 on June 18, 2012 at her residence.
She was born on February 2, 1929 in El Dorado, AR and was a resident of Moss Bluff, LA. Peggy and her late husband Edward Carl Whitley were blessed to have enjoyed 52 wonderful years of marriage together.
Peggy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a great example of the Lord's love as a Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Mother-in-law. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff where she spent her life serving the Lord and helping others.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Carl Whitley; her parents, Roscoe and Minnie Ola Albritton Muckelrath; one brother, Roscoe "Muck" Muckelrath; and four sisters, Gladys Edwards, Agatha Shannon, Camille Gresham, and Jewell Gresham.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are one daughter, Wanda Faul and husband Ronnie of Katy, TX; three sons, Blake Whitley and wife Cindy, Moss Bluff; Lee Whitley and wife Tina, Grand Lake; Lon Whitley and wife Diane, Moss Bluff; eight grandchildren, Travis Faul, Brent Faul, Kelly Whitley, Garrett Whitley, Brittney Salisbury, Lauren Lozada, Jonathan Whitley, and Brady Whitley; six great-grandchildren, Marleigh Faul, Ava Faul, Mason Faul, Noah Faul, Emmanuel Salisbury, and Benaiah Salisbury; three brothers, J.W. Muckelrath, George Muckelrath, and Lyn Muckelrath; and a host of other family and friends. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 21, 2012, from 5:00-8:00PM and Friday, June 22, 2012, from 9:00-10:00AM at First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff, LA. Funeral service will be Friday, June 22, 2012, at 10:00AM at First Baptist with the Rev. James Rivers officiating. Burial will be at Ritchie Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff "Missions Fund" or "Building Fund", 276 Old Highway 171, Lake Charles, LA 70611.
She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love for her family.
