Peggy Lou Hopkins Montgomery, 86, of Lake Charles passed away at 10:30 PM on Thursday, March 14, 2024 in a local hospice facility.
Mrs. Montgomery was born on July 13, 1937 in Battle Creek, MI and lived all of her life in Auburndale, FL before moving to Lake Charles to be near her son. Although she lived in Florida and loved living there, she hated sand and the beach because of it. She was the owner and operator of a convenient store and also the district manager for the 7-11 convenient stores in Florida.
She had several hobbies including bowling, playing cards, making arts and crafts, and gardening. She spent a lot of her time at the club house where she and her friends cooked, played games, and just had a good time. Mrs. Montgomery was also an exceptional cook and was known for her desserts, they were her specialty. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, which would be apparent if you saw her elaborate decorations. She won the golf cart Christmas decoration contest 3 years in a row.
She loved life and lived it to the fullest and she was well loved and will be sorely missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Rick Ramey (Laurie) and Tammy; grandchildren, Missy, Terry (Chad), Sherry, Heather (Coty), Sandy (Jacob), Mariah (Ty), Devin, and Jae; and great grandchildren, Caleb, Shayann, Everly, Nathen, Madalynn, Tuesday, Jacob, Aria, Elena, and Lily.
She was preceded in death by a husband, Ken; parents, Colleen and George Hopkins; a daughter, Cindy Warner; and a grandson, Kevin.
Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
