Philip John Krausman

May 1, 1916 — April 3, 2021

Philip John Krausman, 104 of Lake Charles had his final countdown on April 3, 2021, surrounded by his family, peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord.

Philip was the youngest child born to Nicodemus Kriaučiūnas and Jadvyga Kriaučiūnienė after they immigrated from Lithuania.

In 1918, after the untimely loss of his mother during the Spanish Flu pandemic, his eldest sister stepped up to aid in his up bringing. Baltimore was his home. He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. He was employed by Belle Isle Cab Co. until at age 25, he was drafted into the United State Army. During his enlistment he served with Medical Detachment, Supply Battalion, and 3rd Armored Division in the British Isles, France, Belgium, and Germany, also participating in the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France and Germany. He earned the American Defense Service Medal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and after four years of service, he received an honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant.

It was during his enlistment he met LennieFaye Dennis while stationed at Camp Polk. They were married and together they welcomed three children, Dennis, Phyllis, and Linda.

Upon his safe return home, he worked at Plasticoid as a General Engineer for thirty-four years, until his retirement to Louisiana where he and LennieFaye enjoyed the warmer weather until her passing in 1997. In 1998, he married Kay, welcoming her and her son into his life.

His passions in life were his family, his work and always keeping his hands busy. With his family, he would often enjoy camping, going to the beach, and fishing. His employment at Plasticoid allowed him to tinker with the machines and learning how to fix them. He was well versed in craftmanship and construction, and he proudly built the home his children grew up in. After retirement, much of his time was spent with Brady, Sam, and Maria, his grandchildren who lived close and brought him much joy.

He was welcomed into Heaven by: his parents, siblings, William, Martin, Elizabeth, Ida, Alfred, and Joseph, and a wife who preceded him, LennieFaye Krausman.

Those left to cherish his memory: his wife, Kay Elliott Krausman, his children, Dennis (Fran) Krausman of Punta Gorda, FL, Phyllis Edwards, of Newark, DE, Linda Holmes, of Elkton, MD, and Shane (Antwanette) Elliott, of Sulphur, LA; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and extended family.
