Philip Phil Benoit,58, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2014 in his home. Philip was born in Jennings, LA and has been a Sulphur resident for over 30 years. He worked as a welder for the past 34 years and was a member of the Local 798. He raised and trained quarter horses, was a member of the rodeo team while at McNeese, loved fishing, working cows and riding his Harley Davidson.
Philip is survived by his wife, Karen Denton of Sulphur; one brother, Robert Benoit and wife, Christina of St. Amant; two sisters, Martha Benoit of Lake Charles and Catherine Benoit Gahn of Baton Rouge; grandson, Landon Ellis of Sulphur; 4 nieces, Traci Riley, Emily Gahn, Alexis Gahn, and Megan Benoit; and nephew, Cameron Benoit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lois Gary Benoit.
Funeral Mass and burial will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 1 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Raymond, LA with Rev. Babasino Fernandes officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home and visitation will resume on Monday at 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the funeral and will continue at the church from 12p.m. till time of service..
