Philip Vincent Damiata

Philip Vincent Damiata, 85, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 in the comfort of his home.

 

Mr. Damiata was born July 01, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to Paul and Anna Damiata. He was a graduate of Aviation High School Long Island City New York. He served the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He toured Africa, England and Morocco and was stationed at Chennault Air Force Base, where he served as an Aviation Mechanic. Mr. Damiata made Lake Charles his home and retired in 1989 with over thirty years with the United States Postal Service where he worked as a Mail Clerk. He enjoyed repairing lawn mowers. He also enjoyed meeting his “coffee buddies” at Stines. He was a faithful member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus and nearly fifty years of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Mr. Damiata will be most remembered for his love and devotion to his family and for the many years he took care of his wife and son in their illness.

 

He leaves to honor his memory, his daughter, Lori Romero of Sulphur; grandchildren, Karli Romero and fiancé Shane Babineaux of Sulphur and Whitney Romero Reeves and husband Taylor of Carlyss; many friends and his dear friend and companion, Irene Pampolina of Lake Charles.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of fifty-eight years, Anda Eve Damiata; two sons, Paul Peter Damiata and Brenon Philip Damiata.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 2:00 PM Monday, July 31, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Trey Ange will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Monday will be from 9:00 AM until the 1:45 PM in the funeral home.
