Preston Edgar Hatsfelt Jr., 75, of Sulphur passed away Monday, January 01, 2018 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family.
Mr. Hatsfelt was born and raised in Oakdale, LA and attended Oakdale High School where he lettered in basketball, football, and track. After graduation, he continued his education at Sowela Technical College and later began his career as a machinist supervisor at Citgo and retired after 29 years of dedicated service. After retirement he worked as a millwright instructor at ABC Training Center for several years.
He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur where he taught the four year old Sunday School class for 19 years. He was also an active member of the church choir and the Agin’ Cajuns senior adult choir. In spare time he enjoyed running and cycling. He was an avid sports fan, especially of college baseball and even attended multiple College World Series. He treasured his time spent with family and never turned down an opportunity to enjoy good cajun cuisine.
He was a husband of 47 years to Sherry Crow Hatsfelt and a loving father to Naomi Baker (husband Ron), Renee Hatsfelt, Kim Derouen (husband Brandon), and Todd Butler (wife Melissa). He was proud grandfather to his 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Preston Edgar Hatsfelt Sr., mother, Irene Willis Hatsfelt, daughter, Michelle Hatsfelt, and great-granddaughter, Addison Grace Welch.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church Sulphur at 11AM on Thursday, January 4, 2018. Pastor Howard Greer will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30PM at Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6PM to 9PM at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 3rd. Visitation will continue at the church Thursday morning at 10AM.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the amazing staff of Cornerstone of Sulphur and Brighton Bridge Hospice.
