Priscilla Maxine Hall, 77, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 in her residence.
Ms. Hall was born July 19, 1941 in Natchez, MS to Alfred and Exa Hall. After living in Natchez and Alexandria, LA, her family moved to Lake Charles. She attended Rosteet and Central Elementary Schools, LaGrange High School (Class of ’59) and McNeese State University. Maxine taught at several schools in Calcasieu Parish, including S. J. Welsh, S. P. Arnett, and Westlake High School. She went on to receive her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Christian Education at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. She then returned to Lake Charles to teach as a Homebound Teacher for children who cannot temporarily attend classes. Her last teaching position was at Boy’s Village.
After retirement, she lived in South Lake Charles, with her son, Nathaniel Woodell; pursuing her passions for knitting, crocheting, reading, and watching Billy Graham crusades on TV.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; and several aunts and cousins.
Her survivors include her son, Nathaniel Woodell, whom was her caregiver for the last several years; aunt, Guynell Pollard of Natchez; cousins, Marie and Linda; and lifelong friends who will miss her greatly.
Her cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date.
