Qullis Fontenot

October 29, 1925 — June 1, 2012

Qullis Fontenot, 86, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, June 01, 2012 in a local hospital.


Mr. Fontenot was a native of Mamou, LA and has lived sixty years in Lake Charles. He served the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of W.B. Williamson Post #1 American Legion, VFW Post #2130 and the Operating Engineers Local #406. He retired a Mechanic for Dunham Price, Inc. after nearly thirty years of service. He enjoyed volunteering with Boy Scouts of America and loved gardening.


Mr. Fontenot will be most remembered as a "good and honest man".


He was a devoted husband and father, leaving to honor his memory, his loving wife of sixty-six years, Virginia Deshotels Fontenot of Lake Charles; four sons, Stacy James Fontenot of Lake Charles, Randall Mark Fontenot and wife Kaffy of Lake Charles, Eric Jules Fontenot and wife Helene of Denver, CO and Chris Anthony Fontenot and wife Cathy of Lake Charles; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Irene McGee of Mamou, LA.


He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Perrodin and grandson, Kevin Porter.


Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Monday, June 04, 2012 in St. Margaret Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Sunday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Monday will be from 12:00 PM until 2:30 PM in the funeral home.
