Rachel Robinson

Rachel Haynie Robinson was welcomed into Heaven Monday, March 21, 2022.

Mrs. Robinson was a native of Virginia where she was raised and educated, married and started her family. In 1984, her husband took a job in Louisiana and made Lake Charles their home. Her family was her passion and her move allowed her the opportunity to volunteer as a substitute teacher and front office attendant while her son was attending Our Lady Queen of Heaven and St. Louis Catholic Schools. Throughout the years she met Father Whitney Miller and later began working as his Administrative Assistant for an eighteen-year memorable journey through time. She enjoyed the tranquility of yardwork, raking leaves and flower gardening. Mrs. Robinson’s greatest times were shared surrounded by family for simple visits, holidays and celebration. She will be most remembered as a proper lady, for her faith and her love and devotion to her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of sixty-three years Charles M. Robinson, Jr. of Lake Charles; three children, Bruce Robinson, wife Michele of Reedville, VA, Cynthia Wilmoth, husband Tim of Lake Charles and Chuck Robinson of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Stephen Hirschman, Ryan Wilmoth, Tyler Wilmoth, Daniel Bunting and Shane Bunting; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Mac Haynie of Little Chenier; one sister, Shirley Ashburn of Reedville, VA and dearest friend, Father Whitney Miller of Lake Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Wesley Haynie and Laura Warwick Haynie and one brother, Raymond L. Haynie.

A Service of Remembrance in honor and celebration will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 26, 2022 at University Baptist Church.  Father Whitney Miller will lead the Remembrances. Family and friends will gather Saturday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the church.

Memorial donations may be made to local police or fire departments.
