Rachel Sonnier

Rachel Ann LeBlanc Sonnier, 59, passed away on March 30, 2025 in Lake Charles, LA. She was born on March 18, 1966 in Lake Charles, LA to Daniel Oneal LeBlanc and Edna Hebert LeBlanc.

Rachel was a smiling face and a cheerful hello to all who met her. Rachel gave 31 years of service to First Federal Bank of Louisiana where she made lifelong friendships and memories. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with her husband, Wesley, and her kids and grandkids. Her family was her everything and she made sure they knew it. From cheering (very loudly) at her kids' sports games in their younger years to calling every time their vehicles were still at home when they should be at work, just to check in. Her kids would roll their eyes over her being the nosey neighbor but deep down they knew that was her showing her love. She will be greatly remembered by all those who knew her as the life of the party and a caring friend, wife, mother, and sister.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her husband of 40 years, Wesley Sonnier; her mother, Edna Hebert LeBlanc; her children, Kaycie Abshire (Jeremy), and Jacob Sonnier (Kelsey); her grandchildren, Bryce Abshire and Dylan Abshire, Arianna Sonnier, Kinsley Sonnier, and Jacob Sonnier, Jr.; and her sisters, Diana LeBlanc, Tricia Young (Shon), and Robin O'Quain (Steven).

She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Oneal LeBlanc.

Rachel's funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, April 3, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. Fr. Matthew Cormier will officiate. Visitation will begin on the evening of Wednesday, April 2 in the funeral home at 4:00 PM continuing until 8:00 PM, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning at 9:00 AM until the start of the service at 10:00 AM. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
