Ralph Albert Murray

Ralph Albert Murray, 95, of Lake Charles, La passed away at 4:07 AM on Monday, March 7, 2022 in his son’s residence in Moss Bluff.

Mr. Murray was born on October 14, 1926 in Clearmont, WY and moved to Lake Charles in 1964.  He served our country for 12 years in the U.S. Navy, during World War II, aboard the USS Whitley and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima.  Upon being honorably discharged, he began his 30-year career with the United States Post Office as a carrier.  He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed doing woodwork, gardening, and working in his yard.  In his earlier years he spent many hours deer hunting. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Keith Murray (Renee) and Russell Murray (Kristi Thomas) all of Moss Bluff; siblings, Larry Murray, Sharon Fudge, and Ester Pierceson; grandchildren, Bailey Ray Murray, Karley Murray, Kaleb Murray, Michael Cyr (Amber), and Kelsey Cyr (Maverick Trahan); and great grandchildren, Rosalyn Faith Cyr and Perrin Keith Cyr.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Jeanette Murray; parents, Denzel and Dorothy King Murray; an infant daughter; and seven siblings.

His funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.  Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate.  A private interment will be at a later date at Lacassine Cemetery.  A gathering of family and friends will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
