Ralph Eugene Authement

Ralph Eugene Authement, 62 years old, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side.  He was born on May 17, 1960 to Eric and Ima McBurney Authement in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Ralph is a 1978 graduate of LaGrange High School where he enjoyed playing football. After graduating he worked for SWISCO until 2000 through an acquisition and began working for Airgas.

In 1988, he married Rebecca Hayden and started a family residing in Sulphur. While raising his daughters he enjoyed coaching them in team sports…t-ball, softball and soccer. Ralph was a true sports fan, always cheering for his LSU Tigers. Ralph loved playing softball for Team SWISCO in his early twenties and took up basketball through his church league. He also enjoyed a good round of golf, and in his later years loved competing on a tennis league in Lake Charles. Ralph always looked forward to going on a duck hunt with his brothers, friends, and nephews. Most of all, Ralph loved being with his family, especially his granddaughters, the true loves of his life. He always wanted to spend time with a good cookout or a beach vacation.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Rebecca Hayden Authement; his daughters, Jennifer Daigle, Dedie Zachary (Philip), Katie Lloyd (Connor); his granddaughters, Bailey, Khorey, Noelle, and Avery; his brothers, Eric John Authement, Jr. (Nancy), Richard Gregg Authement (Melissa); and numerous cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Eric John and Ima Jean Authement.

Pallbearers are Connor Lloyd, Philip Zachary, Richard Harrell, Gary Hayden, Terry Trahan, and Steve Cating.

His funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Oliver McGuire will officiate.  Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and will continue on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the start of the service at 11:00 AM.
