Ramona Cecilia Laborde

Ramona Desselle LaBorde, 91, of Sulphur, LA passed away on August 17, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Ramona was born on September 23, 1928 in Bordelonville, LA to John Henry and Aline Desselle. She is known for working in her flower beds, serving others, and cooking. Mrs. Ramona remembered by many as Maw Maw, is known for her kind spirit and unwavering attention to detail. Her selfless love was a big part of her life thinking ahead to help everyone that she could. She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church where she was strong in her faith. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Our Lady of Prompt Succor Altar Society, and the Serra Club.  Mrs. Ramona was also Eucharistic minister to the homebound. She was a graduate of Bordelonville High School in 1945 and received her LPN diploma from Sowela in 1972. Mrs. Ramona worked at Calcasieu Cameron Hospital from 1972 until retiring in 1991 after serving for 19 years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Greta Huval and husband David of Moss Bluff, LA; two daughter in laws, Judy and Deborah LaBorde; one brother, Ray K Desselle and (Diana); seven grandchildren, Greg LaBorde( Maureen), Stephanie Jackson (Jeremy), Stacie Tharpe (Jason), Bridget Williams (John), Jason Huval (Holly), Esther Guynes (James),  Adam Huval (Sarah); and thirteen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Otis T. LaBorde; two sons, Keith T. LaBorde and Donald J. LaBorde; daughter, Brenda Laborde; parents; grandson, Todd LaBorde; and brothers, Reymond and Daniel Desselle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, August 21, 2020 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church Hall on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of service at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church hall until services at 10:00 AM Friday. Burial will be at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South. Rev. Edward Richard, M.S. will officiate services.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice in the memory of Mrs. Ramona “Maw Maw” LaBorde.

The family would like to thank the members of Christus Ochsner Hospice for their love and support during her illness. Special thanks to the staff of Stonebridge Place for their loving care of Maw Maw during her stay.
