Randy Paul Darbonne

April 16, 1958 — September 10, 2019

Randy Paul Darbonne, 61 of Lake Charles, died Tuesday, September 10, 2019 in his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

Randy was born and raised in Lake Charles and graduated from Washington High School. Randy was a small town boy who loved all things about the city.

At 20 years old, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he was right at home for the next 30+ years of his life in the Haight-Ashbury District and Oakland community.

His love of music inspired him to sing and write songs. He was a lead singer for several bands and performed solo in many events, including the 50th anniversary of the United Nations and Rosa Park’s birthday. He also had a love the the silver screen where he did some acting.

He was a very caring and encouraging person. He displayed his genuine love for people through his job and also his personal life. At the young age of 51, he made the decision to sacrifice his Bay Area life (which he called home) to go back to Lake Charles to take care of his mother, who was battling Alzheimer’s disease. He lost his mother 7 years later.

He worked as a patient transporter for hospitals for many years in the Bay Area and Lake Charles, developing close relationships with countless patients that he was serving and all levels of hospital staff. People who met him were drawn to his fun-loving, down-to-earth nature

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Rita Darbonne.

Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Scottie and Jasmine; his fiancé, Gigi; nieces, Tionna, Deja, Simonne, and Jade; Uncle Nolton, Aunt LeEtta, and Aunt Ruby; numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at 5:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm.
