Rayford Joseph Martin, Sr.

Rayford Martin Sr., 67, of Westlake, LA died peacefully Saturday, May 30, 2015 in his residence. Rayford was born on April 17, 1948 in Rayne, LA to Stanley and Bernice Martin. He was a crossing guard for Westwood Elementary school in Westlake, LA. He enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour books. He loved being around his grandchildren, family, and friends. He also enjoyed going to the Westlake McDonalds for breakfast. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Rosary group. He is survived by two sons, Rayford Joseph Martin Jr. and wife of Longville, LA and Daniel Martin and wife Amber of Westlake, LA; two daughters, Tonya and Regina Martin of Westlake, LA; two brothers, Edward and wife Judy Martin of Westlake, LA and Paul Martin of Westlake, LA; two sisters, Louise and husband Steven Thibodeaux of Westlake, LA and Bella Ann and husband Randy Norris also of Westlake, LA; and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Bernice Martin Jr.; loving wife, Gracie Bell Martin; one grandson, De'Anthony Martin; and mother and father in laws, James and Lula Lowe. Services will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM followed by a Cursillo rosary at 7:00 PM Monday, June 1st, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:00 AM until 2:30 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Westlake Memorial Cemetery. Fr. Borel will officiate services.
