Rayford P. "Ray" Jeanis

Rayford Paul Jeanis, 87, of Lake Charles, LA, went to be with his savior on Thursday, June 23, 2016.
 
Mr. Jeanis was born in Crowley, LA to Lena Savoy and Louis Paul Jeanis on May 16, 1929. He spent most of his childhood in Crowley and graduated from Crowley High School in 1947. Mr. Jeanis then moved to Lake Charles in 1949. He started working for United Gas until 1973 when he started his own air conditioning company, called Jeanis A/C, until 2001. In 1981 he was named Small Business Person of the year in SWLA, which resulted in Mr. Jeanis having the chance to go to Baton Rouge to meet the Governor. He was one of the founding members of the Louisiana Heat Pump Association in 1985 and four years later he was named President. Mr. Jeanis was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, especially deer hunting, and enjoyed traveling all over the world.
 
He leaves to cherish his memory is his loving wife and soul mate of 33 years, Dianne Jeanis; four children, Cindy Bush and husband Michael of Euless, TX, Steve Jeanis and wife Gloria of Lake Charles, LA, Debra Viator and husband Presley of Lake Charles, LA, Jay Jeanis and wife Vicki  of Lake Charles, LA; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Curtis Jeanis and wife Jane of Orange, TX and two sisters, Florence Armbruster and Janet Talley, both of Houston, TX.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Gerald Jeanis.
 
Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM Monday, June 27, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Sunday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Scripture Service at 6:00 PM. Visitation Monday will be from 8:00 AM until 11:30AM in the funeral home.
 
The family of Mr. Jeanis would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Rosewood Nursing Home, especially Paulette and Corine, for their excellence in care and compassion.
