Raymond Vires

September 26, 1941 — January 29, 2022

Raymond "Chief" Vires, 80, passed away of natural causes Saturday, January 29, 2022, at home in Moss Bluff. Having been housebound for many years, St. Joseph Hospice took wonderful care of him until his last day. He leaves his devoted and caring family for "that house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens".

A native of East Texas, he was an Army Vietnam Veteran, Shriner, Templar, and Past Master of Pineland Lodge #1166. Working over 30 years in the oil and gas industry as a Chief Steward, he was recognized for his many years of service working on platforms for Exxon, Shell, and Chevron.

Raymond was an avid fisherman, chef and barbecue enthusiast who loved to travel, eat, drink, meet new people and learn new cooking techniques. He was known to be charitable to those in need and share the knowledge he had accumulated over his many years.

Raymond is survived by his remaining children Albert Vires, Jane Hartman, Nelda Robles, and Martin Vires, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Carolina Guadalupe Vires, and his son Raymond Edward Vires.
