Rebecca Lynn Hooper, 66, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 6:01 PM on Monday, September 7, 2015 in her residence. Ms. Hooper was born November 15, 1948 in Akron, OH. She graduated from Firestone High School in 1966 and the graduated from nursing school as an LPN. She moved to Lake Charles, LA in 1983 and worked for Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for nineteen years. Throughout her career with the hospital, she worked on the 7th tower with cancer patients and the NICU. She also spent time at a number of local nursing homes. She had a passion for nursing and put her whole heart into helping others. Ms. Hooper was a member of University United Methodist Church. She was a friend of Bill W. and a member of the SWLA AIDS Council. She also enjoyed crafts and using power tools. She loved making people laugh and always had kind words to speak. She will always be remembered as a child at heart who always had love, care, and compassion for everyone. Ms. Hooper is survived by her spouse of twenty-five years, Donna Jean Constance of Lake Charles; daughter, Kelli Hawksworth Reynolds; daughter-in-heart, DeDee Earhart; father of her child, Terry Hawksworth of Akron, OH; and brother, Allan Hooper and wife Sandy of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Patricia Viall Hooper. Her memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Charlie Langford and Katie Simpson will officiate. A gathering of family members and friends will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the start of the service.
