Reeves Veronie

Reeves "Reevas" Veronie, 77, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home next to his wife of fifty-six years, Frances, at 8:35 AM on Monday, January 12, 2015. Mr. Veronie was born January 4, 1938 in Rayne, LA where he was raised and has lived in Lake Charles for over sixty years. He worked as a superintendent for Bartley, Inc, later Alfred Palma, Inc from 1958 until his retirement in 2011. He was a dedicated worker throughout his fifty-three years of service. Mr. Veronie was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and was a member of the Carpenter's Union. He enjoyed spending his weekends at "The Camp" at Rutherford Beach. During his earlier years, he enjoyed duck hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed listening to Cajun music, cowboy movies, and especially listening to his son and grandson play the accordion. He loved his family dearly and his hugs will be missed dearly. Mr. Veronie is survived by his wife, Frances Seaux Veronie of Lake Charles; daughters, Edna Bell-Louviere and husband Harry Louviere of Sulphur and Mary Trahan and husband Russell of Moss Bluff; son, Wilbert "Wil" Veronie and wife Felinda of Lake Charles; sister and caregiver, Shirley Miller; sisters, Susie Miller and Mary Garcia and husband Tony, all of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Jewell, Jeremy, Shane, Ashleigh, Jennifer, Candace, Jared, Heather, Taylor, Sydni, Carsen, Camryn, LilyKay, and Carmen; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and his caregiver, Julie Cameron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovey and Azina Veronie; son, Ovey James Veronie; and grandchild, Elyse. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. Henry Catholic Church. Reverend Jennesh Joseph will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the parting service at 10:00 AM.
