Regina M. Macdowell

February 27, 1940 — August 24, 2022

Regina Mae MacDowell, 82, of Lake Charles passed away on the evening of Wednesday, August 24, 2022.  She was born a Broussard on February 27, 1940 in Abbeville, LA and grew up in Lake Charles.  She was a graduate of Marion High School.  After high school she married the love of her life, Peter MacDowell in 1959.  She was a secretary in Lake Charles until she and her husband moved to San Antonio, TX, where they lived until moving overseas.  She enjoyed seeing the world and learning different cultures, always sending pictures of her adventures home to her siblings.  She later settled down in Denver, Co, where she lived for many years.

She was an accountant by trade. She loved working with her friends and cheering on the Denver Broncos.  She returned to her hometown where she lived out the rest of her days.  She was a proud employee of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department as a School crossing guard.  She enjoyed seeing all the children and befriended several of the students she saw daily.  Regina was a very active member of the CFMA for several years.  She loved French music with a passion, and she always enjoyed dancing to the music and passing a good time. You could always find her on the dance floor when the music came on, and if there wasn’t a dance floor, she made her own.  Many of her friends of the CFMA would say she was always the life of the party.  She will be remembered for having a big heart, willing to help anyone, and for her love of music and animals.

Regina was the oldest of four children born to Otis and Edmae Breaux Broussard. She is survived by her two sisters, Jackie Broussard Carrier of Iowa, LA and Shirley Broussard of Moss Bluff LA.  She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of which she loved very much.  She was proud to be the Godmother to her nephew Robert Carrier and niece Jennifer Nelson.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Otis and Edmae Breaux Broussard, and her brother Bill Broussard.  Also, her beloved cats that she loved as her children.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Charles on Tuesday August 30, 2022 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm with the service at 4:00pm and the rosary at 6:00pm.
