Renalds "Sal" Salvador

Renalds Dean “Sal” Salvador, 82, of Lake Charles, LA died at 2:34 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

 

Mr. Salvador was born January 2, 1934 in Akron, OH. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1976 as a Lieutenant Colonel after twenty-one years of service. He was stationed at Chennault Air Force Base from 1958 to 1960, where he met his first wife and they returned to Lake Charles in 1977. Mr. Salvador received his bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University and his master’s degree from the University of Illinois. Mr. Salvador worked at Boeing and Northrop Grumman as an engineer and attended Trinity Baptist Church in Sulphur, LA. He enjoyed his reunions with the 44th Air Refueling Squadron. He was a member of the Lake Charles Apartment Association and was a past member of the VFW Post #2130, where he enjoyed playing Bingo. He was a past supporter of Big Brothers / Big Sisters. Mr. Salvador was proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family.

 

Mr. Salvador is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Dee Salvador; sons, David Salvador and wife Cammy of Houston, TX, Dean Salvador and wife Miron of Pearland, TX, Vince Salvador and wife Audry of Sulphur, LA and Vic Salvador and wife Cinnamon of Lake Charles; step-children, Gerald Houston, Randall Houston, Bruce Houston, and Deborah Mouhot; grandchildren, Tommy, Anna, Daniel, Laura, Sarah, Elizabeth, Jacob, Katie, Christina, and Lauren Salvador; seven step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine “Gerre” Salvador; and brothers, Louis and Willis Salvador.

 

His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Lamar Huffman will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and continue on Monday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Brothers / Big Sisters.
