Rene R. "Buddy" Broussard

"Buddy" Broussard, 86, of Lake Charles passed away on Friday, August 07, 2015 in a local hospital. Buddy was born in Lake Charles to Rene Broussard and Zita Francez Kuhlman. He served in the US Navy from 1945-1947 aboard the Charles P. Cecil DD/DDR 835. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a long time member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty four years, Margie Olivier Broussard; one daughter, Susan Bellow and Randy of Elton; four sons, Gene Broussard, Mark Broussard, Randy Broussard and Linda, all of Lake Charles and Ricky Broussard of Ingleside, TX; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way. He also leaves two brothers, who he and his wife raised; Larry Olivier and Sue of Reliance, TN and Donald Olivier and Jean of Vidor, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rene Broussard and Zita Francez Kuhlman; sister Francez Wiggins and brother, James Ray Broussard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Monday, August 10, 2015 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral home. Monsignor Jace Eskind and Monsignor Vincent Sedita will officiate. Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Wake service beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Monday will be from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM in the funeral home.
