Renee Lucille Liebendorfer

Renee Lucille Goudeau Liebendorfer, 88, of Lake Charles, LA died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Harbor Hospice after suffering a stroke.

Renee was born on December 13, 1927 in Crowley, LA to Barbe and Elizabeth Goudeau. Renee was a resident of Westlake, LA for 25 years. She loved to write and when her kids were younger, she took trips on a days notice. She taught her children, that soft side luggage was usually a couple of Piggly Wiggly grocery bags filled with clothes and lunch was a loaf of bread and bologna eaten in a roadside park. The main qualification for riding shot gun was the ability to read a map and identify roads while refereeing four siblings playing road bingo.

She is survived by her children Melissa Norquist married to Ken, James F. Gayle Jr. married to Donna, Barbara Haase and Lee Liebendorfer; grandchildren, Scott Nordquist, Jessice Watkins, Amanda Timberton, Jamie Picard, James F. Gayle III (Scooter) and Christopher Fallon; great grandchildren, Michael Prescott, Maceo Watkins, Tracey Watkins, Andy Picard, Aidan Picard, and Annie Gayle.

She is preceded in death by her son, Richard P Gayle and granddaughter Kelly Husted.

A private ceremony will be held by the family.

A thank you is in order for all her neighbors who exchanged stories, shared photos of kids and helped each other for 25 years in her little spot in Westlake, LA. The staff of Harbor Hospice was tremendous and made her last week’s both comfortable and dignified.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
