Rev. Dallas (J.R.) Shuff Jr., 84, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family, on October 14, 2018.
Rev. Shuff is a retired pastor and last served at Bayou Rouge Pentecostal Church until his retirement in 2009. Even after retirement Rev. Shuff continued to evangelize and is remembered as an intelligent and masterful orator. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church International for over sixty years. Rev. Shuff also built houses including his family’s current home. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and playing Scrabble with friends. His family lovingly remembers him as a wonderful provider of a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He leaves his wife of sixty four years to cherish his memory, Mrs. Sadie Shuff; daughter, Sheila Shuff Leger; son, Ferrell Shuff; five grandchildren, Paul Leger III, Cari Buller Smith, Heidi Rorabaugh, Cade Dallas Buller, Morgan Jade Chauffe; six great grandchildren, Kamryn Nolan, Danica Rorabaugh, Michael Rhyan Craft, Kennedy Rorabaugh, Landyn Rorabaugh, and Jordyn Buller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Della Shuff; two brothers, Rollen and Luther Shuff; sister, Rachel Nash; daughter, Roxanne D. Chauffe; and grandson, Brandon Shuff.
The funeral service will be held at Livingway Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 11AM. Burial will follow at Old Ritchie Cemetery. Bro. C.R. Nugent and Bro. Eldon Reeves will officiate. Visitation will begin at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 16 from 5PM to 9PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at the church at 9AM until the start of the service.
