Rev. Dr. Roberta "Bobbie" Yellott

Rev. Dr. Bobbie Yellott, 72, transcended to her heavenly home on December 7, 2024 with her family by her side after a brief illness at home. 

Bobbie was born in Wareham, Massachusetts on March 11, 1952. She graduated Valedictorian of the LaGrange Senior High School class of 1970 and Summa Cum Laude from McNeese State University in 1974 with a B.S. in Mathematics. She continued her education at McNeese, completing a M.Ed. followed by a Doctor of Education in 1980.

Her teaching career began at Welsh and Leesville High Schools and culminated in 35 years as a beloved Associate Professor of Mathematics at McNeese State University. Dr. Yellott’s math classes were always in high demand because she taught with empathy, gave selflessly of her time and energy, and championed the underdog.

After her retirement from McNeese, Bobbie’s faith journey led her to Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University, later becoming an ordained minister for the Disciples of Christ denomination. She was called by the First Christian Church of Sulphur, serving as their devout Pastor for 12 years. Additionally, she served as the Associate Regional Minister for the Great River Region of the Disciples of Christ Churches in America and Canada.

Bobbie spent her life immersed in music, and her talent as an alto singer led to opportunities for her to sing with the Messiah Chorus for over 50 years as well as the McNeese Chorus, the Louisiana Choral Foundation, and the Sunshine Singers of Trinity Baptist Church.

Bobbie loved cats, good books, turtles, the beauty of math, and Bluebell ice cream. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, enormous heart, infectious smile, and devotion to family and friends. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years, Randy Yellott, her children, Amanda (Dana) Pirolo, Robbie Yellott (fiancé Shené), and David (Erin) Yellott, four grandchildren, Adam Pirolo, Chloe Marie Yellott, Noah Yellott, Scarlette Ann Yellott, Analise Armand, Amelia Armand and Mason Ashley and two great-nephews, Clint Parr IV and Conner (Kylie) Parr. She is also survived by her brothers, Steve (Sally) Taylor and Mike (Jane) Taylor. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Wilma Taylor and sister, Becky Moreno. 

A visitation will be held at the First Christian Church of Sulphur on Saturday, December 21st from 12pm until 2pm. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Rev. Dr. Bobbie Yellott will follow beginning at 2pm. The Reverend Erin Dickey (niece) will officiate. 

As Bobbie was a lover of bright and beautiful colors, the family invites those attending the service to dress in colorful attire to pay tribute to the bright and beautiful person she was. The family welcomes donations to the First Christian Church of Sulphur or the Great River Region (Disciples of Christ) in Little Rock, Arkansas as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.
