Rev. John Duddley Thigpen, Sr.

Rev. John D. Thigpen, Sr. A Man of Great Valour departed this life to be united with his Lord Jesus Christ of February 21, 2012.

He was born February 14, 1951 to Newton and LaVern Thigpen in Kinder and raised in Iowa, LA. John enjoyed pastoring Boggy Creek Tabernacle. His life was spent spreading the gospel.

Preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Mary Jean Thigpen; son, John (J-Boy) D. Thigpen, Jr.; and father, Newton Jarrell Thigpen, Sr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-two years, Sherry Jean Thigpen of Ragley; four daughters, Brandy Craft and husband Chris, Ruth Richmond and husband Tommy, and Rebekah Recheck and husband Shane, all of Ragley, and Rachel Thigpen of Austin, TX; six brothers; three sisters; and seven grandchildren, Allena, John, Samantha, Caleb, Daniel, Johanna, and Rachel.

It is finished, the battle is over, the victory is won and now he is free.

His funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Ricky Treece will officiate. Burial will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens in Bel, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
