Richard Douglas Mesh

Richard Douglas Mesh, 76, of Lake Charles, LA died at 9:00 AM on Monday, October 24, 2011 in his residence.


Mr. Mesh was born December 22, 1934 in Sulphur, LA and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a 1953 graduate of Landry High School and attended McNeese State University then served in the U.S. Air Force. After service, he worked for Conoco for a few years then owned and operated Mesh Plastics and Plastic Repairs. He was an innovative craftsman specializing in construction of anti-corrosive industrial structures and a retired member of the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers). As an avid traveler and bus owner, he was a member of several travel organizations (Family Motor Coach, Texas Outlaws, Prevost Prouds, and the Cruising Cajuns). Mr. Mesh loved speed and enjoyed racing (cars and boats), fishing, gardening and cooking. In later life, he also enjoyed being a member of the Burger King Breakfast Club. He was willing to help anyone in need and was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.


Mr. Mesh is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Beverly Laumann Mesh; daughters, Lisa Mesh of Santa Clara, CA, Richarda Mesh of Lake Charles, and Tiffany Mesh Miller and husband Paul Shannon Miller of Maplewood, LA; son, Richard Douglas Mesh, II of Austin, TX; brother, Ronald Lee Mesh and wife Linda of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Nicholas Taylor Mesh and Mary Miller; niece, Christina Mesh; nephew, Jude Mesh; and numerous other family members and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Lorice Gary Mesh.


His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:40 AM..
