Richard G. Guillory, 75, better known as Sug, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2021, at his home in Moss Bluff, LA with his family by his side. Richard was born in Mamou, LA on Jan 15, 1946 and married his sweetheart (Dee) on November 22, 1969. He graduated high school from LaGrange High School in Lake Charles, LA in 1963. Richard retired from Bell South after 36 years in service. He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam war on USS Ranger and USS Proteus.
Preceding Richard in death are his parents; Oliva Vezina Guillory and Adose Guillory, his daughter Tina Ann Guillory, his brother Chester Guillory, sister in law Leanna Guillory, niece June Williams and grand-niece Jeannine Guillory.
He leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memories, beloved wife, Delores (Dee) Peloquin Guillory, son, Rick Guillory (Kami), and grandson, Blake Elliott (Courtney). Grand-children are Olivia Guillory, Justin Guillory, Tyler Douglas, Kady Douglas, and Lexie Douglas. Great-grandchildren are Kolten Elliott, Randi Jane Elliott, Willow Elliott, and Zayden Mitchell. Richard also has numerous nieces, nephews and extended family plus his four legged best friend, Coco.
Richard had a passion for guns, deer hunting, and spending time at his hunting camp. He passed this love onto his son (Rick) and his grandson (Blake). In addition to being an avid hunter, he was also the life of the party. He loved his family and friends to a fault, and was an influential man to many that knew him. Richard was a New Orleans saints fan, loved to cook Cajun food and listen to Cajun music. The family would like to send a special thank you to Richard’s friend, Martin Powell. Thank you for being a true friend and bringing Richard to the camp so he could spend as much time as possible outdoors doing what he loved.
The family would also like to thank Heart of Hospice and especially his nurses, Michelle and Angelle. You aided in Richard passing away at his home and with dignity.
Pallbearers are, Danny Williams, Ronnie Sensat, Chris Powell, Steven Vincent, Josh LaFleur, and Tyler Douglas. Honorary Pallbearers are Neil Dufour and Anthony Bruce.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, March 18, 2021 in the chapel at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in the Old Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
