Arden Richard Johnson passed from this life on December 31, 2020. He was born in Lake Charles, LA on February 7, 1942 to Arden Francis and Jeanne Barousse Johnson. He grew up in Lake Charles and graduated from LaGrange High School in 1960 where he lettered in football 3 years.
Richard was a Christian and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Lake Charles, for over 65 years.
He was a wonderful family man, married to his sweet bride, Brenda, for 60 years; and was a loving father of 3, grandfather of 8, and great-grandfather of 11.
He was a true Louisiana sportsman with a love for bass-fishing and duck hunting. He was a duck hunting guide for many years and his sons say he was a master of the duck call. One of his joys in life was teaching his children and grandchildren to fish, hunt, and blow a duck call.
Anyone who knew Richard knew his wonderful sense of humor. One of his favorite sayings was “ like socks on a rooster….”
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda; children, Mike Johnson and wife Kathy, Ron Johnson and wife Deanna, and Karen Elfert and husband Rob. Grandchildren- Chris Johnson and wife Haley, Chelsea Tate and husband Derek, Caldon Olmsted and wife, Heather, Patrick Johnson and wife Brittany, Chase Olmsted and wife Brianne, Hannah Pennick and husband Stephen, Katelyn Elfert and John-Adam Elfert; great-grandchildren: Paityn Roth, Emmaleigh Johnson, Paxtyn Roth, Paisleigh Johnson, Brantley Olmsted, Gunner Olmsted, Kinsley Olmsted, Fisher Tate, Kohen Olmsted, Madison Olmsted, and Leighton Olmsted and also, Mollie-girl, Richard’s chocolate Lab and faithful hunting partner.
Visitation will be on Tuesday January 5, 2021 from 10:00 Am until 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff, 2171, Hwy 171 North, Lake Charles, LA 70611 with Funeral services being held at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
