Richard L. Bertrand

Mr. Richard Lee Bertrand died peacefully on June 10, 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 76.

Richard was born on January 28, 1944 in Jennings, Louisiana to Julius and Vidie Bertrand.  He was a hard worker who loved gardening and being outdoors.  He faithfully prayed the rosary and the chaplet of divine mercy.  Most of all, he adored his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife of 57 years, Carol Anne Brawner Bertrand; his son, Steven Bertrand (Denise) of Lake Charles; daughters, Colleen Savoy of Carlyss, Melissa Trahan (Johnny) of Sulphur, and Joanna Canter (Scott) of Lake Charles; brothers, Darrell Bertrand of Westlake, LA, and D.L. Bertrand of Cutoff, LA, and Greg Hambrick; sister, Donna Bertrand of Houston, TX; fourteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Elaine Bertrand, and Joanna Hambrick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.  Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.  Visitation will be in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel on Monday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
