Richard L. Raimer

August 19, 1943 — December 6, 2010

Richard L. Raimer, age 67, passed away December 6, 2010, at a local hospital.

A resident of Lake Charles, he was born August 19, 1943, in Houston, TX, to Othar and Ollie Warner Raimer. After graduating from LaGrange High School he attended McNeese State University. He later completed the Executive MBA Program at Louisiana State University. Mr. Raimer was employed by PPG for 40 years and worked as an Operations Supervisor until retirement in 2005. He was a member of Sale Street Baptist Church and also served in the United States Army. An avid golfer and master gardener, Richard also enjoyed using his engineering and carpentry skills to aid friends and family. Richard will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Preceding him in death were his parents, and a son, James "Jamie" Raimer.


Survivors include his wife, Faith Raimer of Lake Charles; two daughters, Melissa Raimer Cahill of Houston, TX and Stephanie Raimer James and husband, Gary of Lake Charles; two step-daughters, Laurie Evans and husband, Stan of Franklin, TN and Lynley Jones and husband, Rex of Lafayette; two brothers, Othar "Skip" Raimer of Lake Charles and Jack Raimer of Crosby, TX; and ten grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, and Austin Evans, John and Matthew Cahill, Anna Jagneaux, Rex and Olivia Jones, and Hannah and Seth James.


His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Kent Shepherd and Rev. Ernest Walker will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be George Jones, Skip Raimer, Rex Jones, Gary James, Stan Evans, Dr. James Gaharan, and Grady Portie. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 9, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Friday, December 10, from 9 a.m. until time of service. Family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Cancer Society, P.O.
