Richard Lanier Pickett

Richard Lanier Pickett, 73, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 in a local hospital.

He was born on August 16, 1948 in Jennings, Louisiana to Lanier and Dorothy Pickett. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed woodworking and attending services at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. He will be missed by a lot of friends. He grew up in Jennings and remembered and loved all his old friends.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jeanette Pickett of Lake Charles, LA; stepdaughter, Denise Strouse (Kelly) of Lake Charles, LA; stepson, Eric Lovejoy (Stacy) of Oberlin, LA, stepson, Neil Lovejoy (Tasha) of Gillis, LA; son, Chris Pickett (Nina) of LeBleu Settlement; daughter, Kimberly Pickett  of New Jersey; sisters, Cathy Mayfield of Jennings, LA and Mary Beth Geesey (Roy) of Crowley, LA, and Carol Brown of Spring, TX; brother, Joel Pickett of Lake Charles, LA; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Dorothy (Cookie) Daigle.

His funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 1 p.m. Rev. James Lueckenhoff will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Leblanc Cemetery in Leblanc, LA. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a prayer service being held at 7 p.m. Rev. Seth Donald will officiate the prayer service. Visitation will resume Thursday from noon until the start of the service.
