Richard "Dickie" Richard, 72, of Lake Charles, died on Thursday August 20, 2015 at a local hospice center following an extended illness. Dickie was a native of Eunice and lifelong resident of Lake Charles. A graduate of Marion High School, he started in the plumbing business with his father at a young age. He carried on the tradition of his father's work as the owner and operator of Richard Plumbing, a business that is now being carried on by his grandson, Tore. Dickie enjoyed tinkering with old cars and was of the Baptist faith. Preceding Dickie in death are his parents, Curtis and Clemmie Arnold Richard; brothers, Donald "Pistol" Richard and William Richard; sisters, Phyllis Fay Barber and Clemmie Lee Richard; son, James Michael "Jay" Richard and a grandson, William Kyle Richard. Those left to honor and cherish memory are his loving wife, Dona Dean Bertrand Richard; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Giaimis, Lake Charles; son, William Todd Richard and wife Tracy, Fort Worth, TX; sisters, Sarah Ann Clift and husband Jack, Moss Bluff, Judy Leger, Lake Charles, and Jackie Smith, Ragley; brothers, Ronald (Casey) Richard and wife Thelma and Ray Richard, both of Lake Charles; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM today, August 21, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home and continue from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home with the Dr. Jack Clift officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the fourth floor of Christus St. Patrick Hospital and Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles for the special attention given to them and Mr. Richard during his illness.
