Richard Raphael Sarvaunt, 86, of Lake Charles died at 10:40 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2014 in his residence with his loving family at his side. Richard was born on September 22, 1928 to the parents of Zula and Oscar Sarvaunt in Chloe, Louisiana. He attended Iowa High School and Bell City High School and was a graduate of Marion High School. Mr. Sarvaunt worked for the City of Lake Charles as a fireman from August 1, 1946 to February 3, 1973 where he retired as an Assistant Fire Chief. He also worked from 1958 to 1998 as a building contractor building houses and office buildings. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In his spare time he had a passion for hunting wild game. He is survived by his companion of 30 years, Ms. Cheryl Denney, two sons, Roland Sarvaunt and wife Candace and Dale Andrew Sarvaunt and his companion, Sylva Zubia all of Lake Charles, LA, two daughters, Sheila Newman and husband Tanas of Lake Charles, LA, and Sandra Miller and husband Harold of Jennings, LA, one brother, Amos Lee Sarvaunt of Shepherd, TX, and one sister, Bernice Kreuger of Riverside, CA, his special daughter-in-law, Candace Sarvaunt, Step-daughter, Pamela Anderson Zerr, fifteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Mr. Sarvaunt is preceded in death by one daughter, Sylvia Sarvaunt, two brothers, Joseph Sarvaunt and Roland Cinquemano, and his parents. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue at 8:00 AM on Saturday until the time of services.
