Richard "Stormy" Stanbery

Richard Byron "Stormy" Stanbery, 87, of Lake Charles, passed away February 21, 2014 at 11:06 AM in a local hospital. Mr. Stanbery was born August 20, 1926 in Wichita Fall, TX. He worked in the construction industry for over 50 years. He is a decorated veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was aboard two ships that were sunk in the Philippine Islands. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his two sons, Richard D. Stanbery and wife Ginger and Danny Stanbery and wife Kathy; granddaughter, Cindy Stanbery; two grandsons, Jason Stanbery and wife Jamie and Jeffrey Stanbery and wife Trish; five grandchildren and long time family friends, Corky and Tammy Knox. He was preceded in death by his wife Flora Mae Stanbery. Cremation will be entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
