Richard “Dick” William Dewey, 69, of Lake Charles passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015 in his residence.
Dick was born on October 29, 1946 in New York, NY. He attended LaGrange High School and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in Michigan. Dick joined the US Army and was in the Theatre of Europe. During this time he was a coach for the Army. Following his discharge he furthered his education and attended McNeese State University obtaining a Master’s Degree at Richmond University in Virginia. In 1970 he moved to Virginia where he had a successful business as a contractor building custom homes for 30 years in the Lake of the Woods area in Locus Grove, VA. In 2002 he moved to Lake Charles where he was a member of the Optimist Club.
Dick will be remembered for his athletic ability in both baseball and football.
Survivors include two brothers, Alan Dewey (Rebecca Hughs) of Lake Charles and Robert “Bob” Dewey (Cynthia) of Pineville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Argon and Viola Dewey.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, January 8, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 5:00 PM until the start of the service.
