Rita Berken Hoffpauir

March 23, 1941 — January 30, 2022

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 10:00 am

at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church for Rita Berken Hoffpauir, 80, who

died Sunday, January 30, 2022 at her home with her family by her side.

Family request that visitation be observed on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 4:00

pm to 8:00 pm at The Vineyard Baptist Church on Gulf Highway in Lake Charles,

with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 pm. Graveyard services will begin at 1:30 at

St. Leo IV Cemetery in Roberts Cove, LA.

Rita Berken Hoffpauir was born on March 23, 1941 in Roberts Cove, LA. She was

the youngest of eleven children. She graduated from St. Michael

Catholic School and then became a licensed beautician.  

She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she was a member of

the Ladies Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister and sewed baptismal bibs for the

church. She belonged to Threads of Love Sewing Ministry and the Red Hat

Society. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters and friends; with Nova Scotia being

her most memorable trip. Her passions were sewing, crafting, painting, crocheting

and gardening.

Survivors are a son Michael Hoffpauir; grandchildren, Lauren Hoffpauir, Alexis

Hoffpauir and Landon Witsman; a great grandson, Elliot Hoffpauir; Sister-in-laws,

Marie Berken, Brenda Berken and Brenda H. Hornsby.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Jesse Wilbur Hoffpauir; parents Johan

Casper and Thecla Berken; four brothers, Al, Herman, Vincent and Reinhard

Berken; six sisters, Elizabeth B. Klein, Christina B. Hornsby, Angela B. Leger, Mary B. Harrington, Josephine B. Thevis and Ann Louise Berken.
