Rita Sepulvado Petty

Rita Sepulvado Petty, 89, of Lake Charles, LA, entered into eternal peace at 9:45 AM on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at her home with her family by her side.

 

Mrs. Petty was born August 11, 1928 in Port Allen, LA, where she was raised, and lived a few years in Many, LA before making her home in Lake Charles sixty-three years ago. She retired as a bank teller from Calcasieu Marine National Bank and was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Mama Rita as the neighbor hood kids would call her, loved spending time in her yard and garden and will be remembered for her wonderful cooking. She also enjoyed dancing and loved to fish.

 

Mrs. Petty is survived by her daughters, Patsy S. Reeves and Mary Jane Casey; step-daughter, Donna Martin; brother, Elton Ray Hernandez of Lake Charles: grandchildren, Chad Edwin Reeves, Brandon Keith Reeves (April), Amanda Ann Reeves, Shaun Fleniken (Alison), Teressa Booth (Tommy), Tammie Newmister (Charlie), Joshua Sepulvado and Elray Sepulvado; and great-grandchildren, Evan, Charlie, Isabella, Morgan, Grady, Lily, Evan, Dakota, Reed, and Gracie; special nephews, Danny and David Leach; and many other family members and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her fur baby, Bo; husband, Joe Petty; parents, Henry and Lena Hernandez; two sisters; one brother; sons Melvin and Jimmy Sepulvado; and her grandchild, Jimmy, Jr.

 

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Vijaya Peddoju will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
