Rita Winona Oubre

Rita Winona Oubre, 88 of Sulphur passed away on June 15, 2015 in a local care center. Rita was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur. She belonged to Our Lady of Prompt Succor's Young At Heart, Altar Society and also the CFMA. Rita loved to play bingo and spent time with her family and friends. Rita is survived by her husband of 25 years, Lorraine Oubre of Sulphur; a daughter, Bernice Cabanilla of CA; a son, Rufus Wayne Gautreaux of TX; three step-daughters, Pam Whiteard and husband Greg, Marie Fruge all of Sulphur and Aleta Lester and husband Clayton of Baton Rouge; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victoran and Elia Royer; her former husband, Alvin "Thib" Thibodeaux; 3 sisters; and a brother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur with Fr. Edward Richard, M.S. officiating. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. with a rosary at 6:30 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 9 A.M. at the funeral home until time of leaving for the church.
