Robert A. Antoine, Sr., 83, of Lake Charles, LA, transitioned to eternal rest at 12:52 AM on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in a local hospital.
Mr. Antoine was born May 1, 1934 in Lake Charles, LA. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and W.O. Boston High School. He graduated from W.O. Boston High School in 1953. Upon graduation, he joined the U. S. Army. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He lived most of his life in Chicago, IL before moving back to Lake Charles almost twenty years ago. Mr. Antoine retired from United Airlines, where he worked at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.
He was a member of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, where he sang with the Men’s choir. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Antoine is survived by his loving and devoted wife of forty-five years, Lou Ella Frank Antoine of Lake Charles; five sons, Robert Antoine, Jr. (Jasmine), Michael Antoine, Gregory Antoine, Kevin Burleigh, and Mark Burleigh (Demeka), and one daughter, Deidre Carter (Labyron), a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rebecca Antoine; daughter, Claudette Antoine; brothers, Frank and Claude Antoine and sister, Julia Orphey.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, 2605 Poe Street, Lake Charles, LA 706015. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery, 2300 Country Club Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70605. Pastor Robert L. Owens will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
