Robert Arnold Gaspard, 85, of Lake Charles died at 4:20 AM Sunday, May 18, 2014 in a local care facility. Mr. Gaspard was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on January 24, 1929 to the parents of Forrest and Clara Gaspard. He has been a resident of the Lake Charles area since 1975. Mr. Gaspard was a 1946 graduate of Ville Platte High School. After graduation Robert served in the United States Navy. Mr. Gaspard attended Gradwal University in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Louisiana State University and received two degrees, one in Chemistry and one in Bacteriology. Mr. Gaspard worked and was the head of the Chemistry lab at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA for many years. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. In his spare time he loved to entertain guests and cook. One of his hobbies included archeology. Mr. Gaspard is survived by one brother, John F. Gaspard and his wife Patsy of Lake Charles, LA, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Clara and Forrest Gaspard. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Deacon George Carr will be the celebrant. The family has requested donations to be made to one's charity instead of flowers.
