Robert Bob Iles Boyer

Robert Iles "Bob" Boyer, 65, of Lake Charles, LA died on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mr. Boyer was born July 5, 1946 in Minden, LA. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts, achieving the highest honor of Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of Oakdale High School and received his Bachelor's degree in Education from Louisiana State University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He also received his Masters in Guidance and Counseling from the University of North Texas. Mr. Boyer taught a number of years in the public school system and also helped with the family business, City Motors in Oakdale. After retirement, he was the co-owner and operator of B.C. Computers with Saulo Corte and also co-owner of Boyer-Turney Properties. He also volunteered teaching English as a second language. Bob was also an avid reader and great conversationalist; he enjoyed people and was comfortable conversing on any subject. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time in his family owned woodlands. He also enjoyed spending time with his church men's fellowship groups.

Mr. Boyer is survived by his son, Christopher Nicholas Boyer of Denton, TX; daughter, Shannon Boyer Blackwell and husband Jason of Keller, TX; sister, Judy Turney of Lake Charles; aunt, Mary V. Hudson of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Todd Amarantes, and Corinne and Rosemary Blackwell; and niece, Tara Chaumont and husband Jerry of Lake Charles; and their children, Makenzie Lynne, Madalyn Leigh, Bill Turney, and Reese Iles Chaumont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Earl and Gladys Gertrude Iles Boyer.

His memorial service will be at 5:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Lakewood Bible Fellowship. Reverend Richard Beckham will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be at the church starting at 4:00 PM on Friday.

The family would like to give a special word of thanks to Gerald Victor and Stephanie Victor for the special care given to Bob.
