Robert "Bob" Talbot

Robert J. Talbot passed away on Friday, September 2 with his family and in the comfort of his home.

 

Born in Lake Charles on May 13, 1932, Louisiana, he graduated from Lake Charles High School (Class of ’50) and graduated from Louisiana State University College of Engineering (Class of ’54). He is a veteran of military service, having served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War in the rank of Captain. After the war, he joined PPG where he worked for thirty-eight years as an Electrical and Project Engineer. During that time Bob and his family accepted several temporary assignments away from Lake Charles, including five years in Puerto Rico. Along with engineering, he was active in planning and building a large Puerto Rican Spanish/English mission church. He and his family returned to Lake Charles in 1978 to reside in Moss Bluff for the following thirty-seven years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Moss Bluff where he served as a youth and adult Sunday School teacher, deacon, chairman of ushers, and co-teacher in a Men’s Senior Adult class. He enjoyed his family, boating, hunting, model trains and working on a long list of projects around the house and neighborhood.

 

Bob leaves his wife, Patricia A. Talbot; daughters Brenda A. (and her husband M.L.) Woodruff of Baton Rouge and Kathy A. Talbot of Conroe, Texas; his son Richard D. (and his wife Nancy) Talbot of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren Melissa (and her husband Hafid) Khallaf, Al (and his wife Lyndell) Woodruff, Katie Woodruff, Kester Talbot and Emily Talbot and three great grandchildren Tinley Woodruff, Rhyder Woodruff, and Lilya Khallaf.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Mount William and Mary Vida (Fisher) Talbot, step-mother Lucy Talbot, his sister Roselma Bartlett, two brothers Ben Talbot and Bill Talbot and grandson Josh Talbot.

 

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church Moss Bluff at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. Visitation is scheduled at the church for Tuesday 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral service at Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Dr. Steve Bennett will officiate.
