Upon graduation, he served in the Navy Sea Bees, in the Pacific Theater, in Iwo Jima and Guam.  After separating from the Navy he went to work immediately at Cities Service Oil Company, in various supervisory and managerial positions, with his last position as Plant Maintenance Superintendent of one of Cities Services refineries.   While employed at Cities Service he met the love of his life, his precious wife of 65 years, Helen Hughes.  Bob lovingly raised his family working diligently for that company for 35 years.

Bob loved wood working and was found spending most of his time in his woodworking shop, making something for one of his grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, and acquaintances. Bob was a member of the Southwest Louisiana’s Wood Workers Club for many years.  He was able to share his many projects with this wood working community.

Bob was a man of Faith, Hope and Charity.  He was a man of faith because he accepted Jesus as his way, truth and life, and he participated in the Sacrifice of the Mass every day.   He was a man of hope for his expectation to live for the Lord each day and to die for the Lord one day.  Bob was a man of charity for helping many people in various ways.
