Robert "Bobby" Earl Douget, 74, of Lake Charles passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer.
Robert was born on October 19, 1946, in Jennings, LA to Nalan and Peggy Douget. When he was a young child, his family moved to Lake Charles to open and operate grocery stores. He proudly served his country in the US Army and Navy. Robert worked in the family grocery store, Peggy's Superette, and in the construction industry in various plants.
He loved spending time with his family, listening to French music, playing golf and cooking. After relocating to Lake Charles from Kinder after the hurricanes of 2020, he looked forward to joking around with his coffee buddies at KD's every morning.
Robert is survived by his daughters Melissa (Mark) Hamilton of Lake Charles, Shonda (Ronald) Mire of Grand Lake, his siblings, Tina Sonnier, Jan Simmons, Larry Douget (Connie), and Keith Douget (Lisa), bonus daughters Lisa (Kelby) Shows of Lake Charles and Vanessa (Tommy) Souter of Benton, La, two grandsons, three granddaughters, and four great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Dianna, bonus son Dennis Bertrand and parents Nalan and Peggy Douget.
The family would like to thank Dr. Micah LeLeux, Dr. Ben Thompson, Lily, Amber and the staff at Harbor Hospice for their compassionate care. With respect to his wishes, he will be cremated, and his family will gather for a private celebration of life later this fall.
