Robert Clark, Jr.

March 7, 1960 — April 10, 2023

Robert graduated from Lake Charles High in 1978 and MSU in 1983 with a degree in Business.  After a couple of jobs, he was hired at Billy Navarre Chevrolet in Sulphur.  He sold cars for a year and switched positions to ordering the new cars and trucks.  As the dealership grew and Ryan Navarre took over ownership, the franchises increased.  Robert loved his job and embraced the challenges.  He worked at Navarre Auto Group for 37 years.  His Navarre family meant a lot to him.  Most employees heard his numerous stories from the past or one of his endless categories of jokes.  He shared cold watermelon wedges with the mechanics during the stifling hot days of summer.

His son Daniel was born in 1986.  Robert focused his life on making sure he was able to have a great childhood and participate in all the sport activities he was interested in.  In 1999, he married Monica, the love of his life.  Together with her daughter Ashley, their life was complete.  Then the grandchildren came.  Grace and Chloe became his number one interest.  From putting together swing sets, showing them how to fish and teaching them both how to ride a bicycle, his life was full.  One of Robert and Monica’s favorite things was traveling in search of historic home tours which he acquired the interest from his mother.  He loved history and soaked it up at any chance.  Bike riding was a big enjoyment of Robert and Monica’s.  Galveston was their island destination of choice.  They would bring their cruisers and ride the island several times a year.  They even talked of buying a bungalow or loft and retiring there.

When Robert was diagnosed with his illness and unable to come in to work, Ryan Navarre allowed him to work from home.  And for this Robert was extremely grateful. He still felt dedicated to doing his job and this gave him purpose.  Thank you, Ryan, for allowing this to happen.  He would also like to thank Doug and Amanda McElveen for allowing Monica to work from home also and take time off to make sure Robert’s appointments and needs were met.

Every once in a blue moon, a group of people come together over a common love.  Robert was fortunate enough to be a member of such a group.  The granddaughters were the common love of 4 sets of grandparents which he called the GP Squad.  They were there for every school function, recital and activities that the girls were involved in.  Their friendship became a strong bond.  Robert would like to thank Gordon and Linda Vest, Bubba and Tana Navarre, and Kurt and Paula LeDoux for the unbelievable support and help in his time of need.  He also wants to thank Donald and Ashley Vest as well as the granddaughters, Gracie and Chloe, for their love, prayers and support thru the years.  Most of all, he would like to thank Monica for making his life complete and making sure his medical needs and appointments were taken care of.  I’ll always love you and be with you Baby.  Robert would also like to thank his friends for all the love, prayers and support he received in the end. Thank you and I loved you all.
