Robert E. Cancienne

August 31, 1937 — June 7, 2017

Robert Emory Cancienne, 79, passed away June 7, 2017 in the comfort of his home.

 

Bobby was a native of Lake Charles and is a 1955 graduate of Lake Charles High School. After high school he joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Los Angeles. Mr. Cancienne worked for Coca-Cola for 38 years as an Operations Manager. He was a member of the American Legion and the Cavanaugh Collectable Society. In his free time he liked to go fishing and trapping. He was a handy man that toiled in woodworking and even refinished furniture. He most of all loved to travel with his wife, Valda. She fondly remembers traveling to the mountains and to Confederate Civil War Cemeteries.

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Valda Cancienne; daughters, DeNessel Compton and husband Jimmy of Westlake, Lisa Solley of Vidor, TX, Donna Cancienne Bryant of Starks, LA, Cynthia Moe and husband Robert of Concord, CA; step-son, Paul Dwayne Douglas and wife Michelle of Sulphur; sisters, Peggy Stizlien and husband Gus, Lois Simon and husband Don; sister-in-law, Elodia Cancienne; brother, Johnny Cancienne and wife Dee; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

 

Mr. Cancienne is preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred Cancienne and Pearl Norwood Dartez; son, Richard Joseph Cancienne; and daughters, Rhonda Gail Cancienne, and Taija Lynn Cancienne Dunnahoo.

 

A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 11AM on Saturday, June 10, 2017. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 2PM to 8PM on Friday, May 9th. Visitation will continue Saturday morning at 9AM until the start of the service.
