Robert E. Gardner, Sr.

Robert Edward Gardner, Sr., 67, of Westlake, LA died at 5:42 AM on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in a local hospital.

Mr. Gardner was born July 19, 1943 in Forest County, MS and has lived the past forty years between Westlake, LA and Mississippi. He began his career as an upholsterer at the age of fifteen working for Puckett Mattress Co. He also worked at Westlake Upholstery and owned his own business. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Mr. Gardner is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Cynthia Nereaux Gardner; children, Robert Gardner, Jr. and wife Laura of California, Randy Dean Gardner and wife Anally of Ingleside, TX, Shandell Moss and husband Boyd of Westlake, LA, Lonnie Gardner and wife Hope of Sulphur, LA, and Walter Gardner of Westlake; siblings, Joe Gardner, Archie Gardner and Margaret Gardner of Mississippi; and grandchildren, Samuel, Matthew, Abby, K.C., J.D., Page, Maggie, Boyd, Jr., Britney, and Kim, Devin and Courtney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Gardner; siblings, Irma Gardner, Minnie Fay Clark, Lillie Pearl Lewis, Betty Herring, Tavy James, Dorothy Fontenot, Bodie Gardner, Wilmer Gardner, and Marvin Gardner; and grandchild, Ryan Gardner.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010, at 2 p.m. at The First United Pentecostal Church on 7th Street in Hattiesburg, MS.
